Hydrologic Warning System (SAIH)

 

Introduction

The main objectives of the water management are the provision of hydraulic resources adapted in terms of quality and amount for their later purification, the management of residual water spills, the maintenance of a system of drainage for cultivate territories and prevention of the deterioration of the ecological balance.

The necessity to adapt the demand of domestic, industrial and irrigated land water with the necessity to maintain adapted water levels in dams, rivers, water-bearing, etc justifies the implantation of a Hydraulic Resources Management.

The Floods Alert System contemplates the design, construction and maintenance of the physical protections against floods; the management of the different margins from the river that assure a correct drainage and forecast floods.

SAIH Main Advantajes

SAIH provides the different means that allow to manage the water environment in a effective way, affecting mainly the following aspects:

In the forecast of floods, SAIH minimize the risk of damages to the property, losses of human lives and the degradation of the river environment.

SAIH allows to prevent the behavior of the river based on the volume, using so much the data of historical file, like the originating ones in real time of the supervision system.

Parallelly to the forecast of floods, this system provides valuable information for the long term planning of the construction of protection infrastructures.

In the management of the resources, SAIH provides information of the different measured values, as well as the statistical possibility of generating information, curved tendencies and statistical analyses. This information allows to manage the different consumptions, as well as to balance the demand of the users with the environment needs.

SAIH also allows to develop a series of improvements in the quality of the river waters, based in the capture of data in real time and later data management of laboratory analysis.

A basic system of the rivers modelisation, in conjunction with the existing data about the water quality allows to make a pursuit of the contamination.

SAIH Functions

SAIH system can be configured to make the following functions:

Elements that compose SAIH, are the following ones:

 

ROD allows to accept data from different systems, which we can emphasize the supervision system,   laboratory management systems, manual systems. Data is coming from everywhere and   the corporative management systems.

The Modelling System accepts data from itself or of a series of external devices, such as data of the National Meteorological Institute and the meteorological radars. Alert messages can be transmitted automatically.

 GIS as much use the interphase of ROD for report generation like for data presentation.

This information allows to in advance know the area extension that can be flooded, or to facilitate the data collection for off-line processing.

All the described systems have a common graphical interphase, which allows from an only console,   to be accede to the different systems in a transparent use. Basically, these consoles are  Windows NT computers.
